Treatment Philosophy
Fortes in Adversis
(Latin: “Strong in Adversity”)
We recognize that, at times, life may bring significant adversities. The development of psychosis can be a trying experience for both individuals and families. It is often accompanied by an initial shock, deep pain, and anxiety about the future. These experiences are exacerbated by the challenges of finding qualified clinicians and appropriate treatment in the face of a fragmented and often inaccessible U.S. mental health system. As a result, patients and families often end up cycling through ineffective treatments or relying solely on medication, missing vital tools in their recovery.

At Vital Psychological Therapeutics, we aim to help families navigate these challenging times by providing a comprehensive, state-of-the-art treatment that aims to promote recovery. Our treatment is anchored in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for psychosis, an evidence-based treatment recommended by the American Psychiatric Association. This vital treatment is accompanied by individually-tailored patient services including emotion and social skill-building, physical exercise, as well as presentations, workshops, and support groups for families and caregivers. Our goal is to reduce suffering, enhance daily functioning, and improve quality of life.
Our treatment philosophy is informed by treatment guidelines, evidence from research studies and clinical trials, our expertise in cognitive and behavioral treatments, along with more than 20 years of experience developing and delivering effective treatments for individuals experiencing psychosis.
